33rd Annual Gingerbread Extravaganza: A favorite holiday tradition returns to Central Arkansas

Glad tidings we bring to all those who love our annual Gingerbread Extravaganza: We will host this popular coloring and decorating contest in 2020, yet modify it slightly to stay safe during the ongoing Corona pandemic.

Get your kitchen countertops and craft tables ready.

The big show will happen virtually on Sunday, Dec. 13, from 2 pm to 4 pm on Facebook live. Join us to vote for your favorite gingerbread house. As each year, the winners will receive prizes, and all proceeds will benefit foster children.

Hobby bakers and decorators, here is how you can enter the Gingerbread House Decorating Competition:

  1. Between now and Dec. 10, order and prepay your Gingerbread House Kit from the Treatment Homes office by calling 501-372-5039. You will be given a time for a curbside pickup from their main office at 700 West Fourth Street, Little Rock, AR 72201, Monday through Friday during regular business hours. The preassembled kits are priced $15 (small), $20 (medium) or $30 (large). (If you just want to decorate your Gingerbread House and not enter it into the competition, you can order and pick up your kit through Dec. 20 or while supplies last. )
  2. Download and complete the registration form to enter the gingerbread house decorating contest and email it to gbhouse@treatmenthomes.org no later than Dec. 10.
  3. At home, decorate the gingerbread house to your heart’s desire and take a couple of close-up photos with your cell phone.
  4. Email the photos of your decorated masterpieces, along with your name and contact information, to gbhouse@treatmenthomes.org no later than Dec. 10.
  5. Beginning on Friday, Dec. 11, through Sunday, Dec. 13, at noon visit the THINC Facebook page and “vote” your favorite(s).
  6. Tune in to our Facebook Page on Sunday, Dec. 13, from 2 pm to 4 pm, for a live webcast when we will announce the winners, including the Viewer’s Choice Award, which will be the photo with the most “votes,” as well as those selected through an additional, formal judging process.

YOUTH Grades 7- 12: $50 Gift Card
YOUTH Grades 4 – 6: $25 Gift Card
YOUTH Grades K– 3: $25 Gift Card

The Holiday Coloring Contest will be conducted in a similar fashion.

  1. Young colorists in grades PreK-5 may have already received instructions at their school or home of how to download, print and submit their coloring sheets or they can do so here.
  2. They or their parents should submit the completed entry by Dec. 4,

    or delivery: Treatment Homes, 700 W. Fourth Street, Little Rock, AR 72201
  3. Tune in to our Facebook page on Sunday, Dec. 13, from 2 pm to 4 pm, for a live webcast when we will announce the winners.

Prizes in Each Category: Pre-K-1st Grades; 2nd-3rd Grades; 4th -5th Grades.
