Like to color? Like to decorate?
Then this is for you.
You are invited to participate in the 32nd Annual Gingerbread Extravaganza hosted by Treatment Homes December 15, 2019, at the Arkansas State Capitol in Little Rock. Winners receive prizes, and proceeds benefit foster families and foster children.
For hobby bakers and decorators, here’s how to enter: Between now and Dec. 10 (or while supplies last), pick up a Gingerbread House Kit from the Treatment Homes office at 700 West Fourth Street, Little Rock, AR 72201, Monday through Friday during regular business hours. They are priced $15 (small), $20 (medium) or $30 (large) or $20 (train). While you’re there, complete an entry form—no fee required—or mail/email it back no later than Dec. 10. (Download a free copy here.) At home, decorate the gingerbread house or train to your heart’s desire and then deliver the finished product to the State Capitol on Sunday, Dec. 15, between 8 and 9 am.
Young colorists in grades PreK-5 are already working on their coloring sheets to compete in the Holiday Coloring Contest, sponsored by Cabot Office Machines. The finished sheets must be returned to Treatment Homes by Dec. 6 to be juried and selected for display. (Need a coloring sheet? Click here for a free download.) Prizes will be given in three categories: PreK-1st, 2nd and 3rd, and 4th and 5th grades.
Both the winning coloring sheets and the decorated gingerbread houses will be displayed during the Gingerbread Extravaganza, Dec. 15, from 1 to 4 pm., at the Rotunda of the State Capitol. Visitors may cast their votes for their favorite gingerbread house in four categories: Grades K-3, 4-6, 7-12, and Adults. Winners will be announced between 3.30 and 4 pm.
Santa will also make an appearance and sit for pictures between 2.30 and 3.30.
Admission to the Extravaganza is free, and the public is invited.
All proceeds will benefit Treatment Homes, Inc.
